Corps History

Commanding Officers

62 Royal Canadian Army Cadet Corps was formed on March 8, 1900, as the Hamilton Collegiate Institute Cadet Corps, and affiliated with the 13th Regiment.  On May 12, 1922, it changed its affiliation to the Royal Hamilton Regiment. The corps disbanded on January 11, 1951.

The current corps was formed on February 28, 1950, and assigned the number 2379.  It is affiliated with the Royal Hamilton Light Infantry.

On October 30, 1989, the corps requested that it be allocated No. 62 in order to perpetuate the history of the older unit.  The number 2379 now belongs to our sister unit in Burlington, formed in 1991.
